WHY SICILY
From the bustling capital of Palermo to windy Trapani to the hilltop town of Taormina, Sicily is a magical island, with 1000km of coastline, from smooth sandy beaches to spectacular rock formations, mountains, volcanoes, beautiful villages, archaeological sites, and well-preserved cathedrals and buildings that show the passage of Greeks, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Spaniards and others. With a hot and long summer season, you will find great weather from April to November, delicious food, fine wines, a rich culture and traditions that still live on.
SCOPELLO
The small seaside village of Scopello is one of the most loved places in western Sicily by Italian and international tourists. With its colors and its atmosphere reminiscent of ancient times, this enchanting fraction of the municipality of Castellammare del Golfo is a postcard corner of Sicily: a reddish cliff overlooks a gulf bathed by a very transparent blue sea, from which two high stacks that dominate the panorama. The remains of the ancient tonnara testify to the strong link with the sea that has marked the history of this village, and a little of all of Sicily.
CASTELLAMMARE
DEL GOLFO
An amphitheater overlooking the sea, Castellammare del Golfo, which, as its name already announces, overlooks the gulf of the same name, the largest in Sicily.
Its imposing castle, Arab-Norman, is its undisputed symbol, its beautiful stairways offer fascinating views, the high ramparts overlook the port while beautiful churches rise above the urban fabric. A city, where every corner tells something of its flourishing past.
ZINGARO NATURAL RESERVE
The Oriented Lo Zingaro Nature Reserve is located in one of the few stretches of the Sicilian coast not covered by coastal roads. Wonderful beaches lapped by a crystal sea, hidden coves, overhanging rocks, alternate in an intact Mediterranean landscape, where hundreds of plant and animal species coexist in a perfectly preserved natural environment. The territory, which is part of the municipalities of Castellammare del Golfo and San Vito Lo Capo, has an area of about 1700 hectares, extends along the coast for more than 7 km, and this natural oasis is considered one of the most beautiful areas Italian protected areas where you can do various trekking routes.
PALERMO
In Palermo the ancient (Greek, Roman) mixes with other traces of past settlements (Byzantine, Norman, Arab, Swabian, French, Spanish) in its architecture, in the Sicilian dialect, in its traditional dishes, in the renowned street food, and centuries-old food markets. Alongside the town's old restaurants and many shopping opportunities are palaces now filled with contemporary art and refurbished hardware stores turned into bars.
